The Story of the Three Bricklayers
Once upon a time, there were three bricklayers who were working on a building. One bricklayer was very lazy. He would only put in a few hours of work each day, and he would often take breaks. The second bricklayer was a little more hardworking. He would put in about six hours of work each day, and he would rarely take breaks. The third bricklayer was the most hardworking of all. He would put in eight hours of work each day, and he would never take a break.
One day, a passerby stopped to watch the three bricklayers work. He asked the first bricklayer what he was doing. The first bricklayer replied, "I'm just building a wall." The passerby then asked the second bricklayer what he was doing. The second bricklayer replied, "I'm building a career." The passerby then asked the third bricklayer what he was doing. The third bricklayer replied, "I'm building a legacy."
The moral of the story is that the amount of effort you put into your work will determine the results you achieve. If you are lazy, you will only achieve mediocre results. If you are hardworking, you will achieve good results. But if you are dedicated and passionate about your work, you can achieve great things.
This story is a reminder to all business excellence teams that they should strive to achieve excellence in everything they do. They should not be satisfied with mediocrity. They should be committed to continuous improvement and to making a positive difference in the world.
